The state of Iowa is filled with elite shooters, from 2010’s Zach Mccabe and Chanse Creekmur, to 2011’s Josh Oglesby. The best shooter of them all just might be 2010 rising senior Dau Jok.

Basketball runs in Dau’s bloodlines. His uncle is 7’7” former NBA star Manute Bol; his first cousin is Chicago Bulls star Luol Deng; and his younger brother, Peter, Is the top player nationally in the class of 2013. Dau is no slouch at basketball himself.

A 6’3”, 160 pound shooting guard in every sense of the word, Jok is a prolific scorer from beyond the arc, routinely making 4-5 threes per game on the AAU circuit for the All-Iowa Attack. Dau is not a one-dimensional player, as he is also a very good passer and defender. He also consistently displays great leadership qualities, and is a very vocal player on the court.

  Article continues here:

Jok’s many stellar performances on the AAU circuit this July have college coaches buzzing. He is currently receiving interest from Montana State, Iowa State, Arkansas State, many Ivy League schools, Fairfield, Nebraska, North Dakota, Drake and many more. Within the last week alone, 7 new colleges have contacted Dau’s coach to inquire about him and his game. Dau is currently wide open, and is looking for a school that has, “Good education, coaching staff, a great fan base and basketball family, good tradition, and a chance to play for championships, either conference or NCAA.”  Dau doesn’t plan to make his decision anytime soon, as he wants a chance to take a strong look at all the schools recruiting him.

The Des Moines Roosevelt Rough Riders, Dau’s high school team, plan on being much improved this year, despite losing their leading scorer in Bill Freeman. They return Dau (54-138, 39.1% from three) and solid starting point guard Michael Hurst. They also add Dau’s little brother, class of 2013 phenom Peter Jok . The team hopes to be in the picture for a conference championship, and no doubt will be due to play of the two Jok brothers

Dau Jok is a rising, and, dare I say it, shooting star in the world of AAU basketball. Be sure to keep a watch out this year for Dau Jok, a rapidly improving three-point marksman.
