Heading into the 2007-2008 high school basketball season
Kyle Cassity was not exactly the ‘biggest name’ player in the state. However
this senior guard has been making a splash all season on the court, but most
importantly has a made a splash among college recruiters as Cassity recently
picked up his first Big Ten offer from Penn State.
“Yes they (Penn State) did offer. They have been to the
last few games,” said Cassity.
Meanwhile, Michigan
head coach John Beilein and staff has taken heavy interest as well. “They
haven’t indicated anything yet about an offer, but they are coming to the game
tomorrow,” Cassity stated.
Outside of these Big Ten schools, Cassity is hearing from
SLU, Evansville, SIU, SIU-E,
Arkansas State, UMKC, and Hawaii.
“Evansville and SLU recently offered as
well, and Hawaii
gave me a call the other day.”
Of the plethora of schools recruiting Cassity, he plans on visiting
a few. “Haven’t set up anything up yet but we are definitely going up to Michigan after the
season. Also, I will visit SLU and Penn
State, and maybe Evansville,” Cassity said.
“Coach Lowery and Coach
Watson (Southern Illinois) have been at the
past few games as well. They basically told me if anything opens up I would be
the first guy.”
Pinckneyville (25-6) heads into tomorrows super-sectional
match-up against Trenton-Wesclin at SIU Arena. “We have some unfinished
business, that’s for sure, we play Trenton-Wesclin and we are trying to get
back to Peoria.
Last year, we lost to Nashville
in the playoffs,” stated Cassity.
