Dashawn Suber is a 5 foot 11 rising sophomore at Rice High in Manhattan. The
speedy playmaker, although young, understands the tradition of the quality of
guards that Rice has produced in recent years.
And by the looks of things, he could be one of those names that people
rattle off in the future when referring to Rice and their rich basketball
tradition.
While working with the Gauchos this summer Paul Suber (Dashawn’s well known
father, coach, and trainer) and myself routinely held workouts at the Gauchos
Gym, which Dashawn took place in. While lots of other kids were sleeping in
early in the summer and just playing AAU games Suber was in a different type of
mode, constantly in the gym working out, talking about basketball, and watching
basketball when he wasn’t working out or playing in a game.
Davonne “D.A.-D.A.” (pronounced
day-day) Henry has officially arrived on the New York recruiting scene. If
you didn’t know him before, take the time right now to get acclimated with this
6 foot 3 slasher in the class of 2011.
Henry is a quick and clever
guard that specializes in taking the ball to the basket. “My strength is
dribbling the ball and getting to the basket and finishing the play,” Henry
stated via text message this week.
Formerly from Bread and
Roses (located in Manhattan) is transferring out of the city and into
Westchester to Woodlands High School. Like many other players, Henry needs a
change of scenery to focus on his grades and his game so that he can take his
game to the next level. “I transferred to Woodlands because I see a perfect
opportunity for me to make myself and the program better,” Henry said.
